services > resource estimation
The QG team have extensive practical experience with resource
estimation and block modeling on operational open pit and underground
mines and for bankable feasibility.
Why choose QG for resource estimation?
We will not arrive at your deposit with a method decided: we
understand that careful consideration of both the data and the
geology are required to select a method in each case. We are
not limited to a small subset of approaches by software or 'marketing
considerations'.
John
Vann is a professional mine geologist (with hands on underground
and open-pit experience) who has high level skills in geostatistics,
sampling, due diligence, audit and training. Together with Scott Jackson, Mike Stewart, Mike Job and Chris De-Vitry, we think
we have all the bases covered.
QG can provide:
- Quantified testing to determine best approach to resource
estimation and block modelling
- Real-world mining and geological experience: open-pit
& underground
- Excellent communication skills to practitioners (geologists,
engineers, metallurgists) and other stakeholders (managers,
investors and financiers)
- Clear understanding of the requirements of bankers
and companies
- Ability to hit the ground running and identify major issues
rapidly
- Expert knowledge of drilling, sampling, linear & non-linear
geostatistics, analysis of multi-element data and geological
modelling
- Broad knowledge of mining, geological, processing and
financial risk issues
- Expertise and experience in risk
analysis via Monte Carlo and Conditional Simulation
approaches
- Expert knowledge of JORC
classification issues by our all our Principals
- In addition, John Vann was an AIG
representative on the JORC committee from 1997 to 2007 and has
a deep knowledge of other international codes. John has
also delivered reports to the US SEC
- Resource estimation experience in Australia and internationally,
for a range of commodities
including Au, Cu, Ni, Fe, Al, Mn, Sn, Coal, Diamonds...
- International experience: Africa; North America; Europe;
Russia; Central Asia; South East Asia; Papua New Guinea
- Widely respected, highly-rated training
courses. John Vann has
run over 80 courses in 8 countries since 1994. Scott
Jackson is also a skilled, effective presenter, experienced
in skills-transfer on mine sites. QG can transfer skill
to you team
By virtue of using Isatis,
QG can test and implement resource estimation by a whole range
of approaches including linear geostatistical methods and non-linear
geostatistical methods ('recoverable resources' or 'recoverable
reserves'), such as:
- Ordinary Kriging
- Uniform Conditioning (UC)
- Indicator Kriging
- Multiple Indicator Kriging (MIK)
- Median Indicator Kriging
- Recoverable Resources by Conditional
Simulation
- Multi-element (multivariate) recoverable resource estimation
- Disjunctive Kriging
- Non-stationary approaches
- Innovative approaches ...
Note that QG have the knowledge and software to compare all
of these approaches for clients. |
